Nelson arrived at our barn on May 25, 2019. He came from a family in Christmas, FL. Nelson is a registered Shetland Pony, a blue-eyed, black pinto gelding. He is a great mover, he packs a lot of kids around during our nature walks.

Nelson is cautious and slow to warm up, he needs to learn new things are ok before he is comfortable. He doesn’t like loud unexpected noises or new sights, especially new big things that he doesn’t understand (like a tent in our yard). He is quick to find a horse girlfriend. First it was Lucy, then Scarlett, now Paisley. Nelson was born June 5, 2002

Pearl

2008 Bay Pinto Shetland Miniature Mare

Pearl arrived at our barn on September 15, 2019. We adopted her from the Wild Horse Rescue Center. Pearl is probably a miniature horse crossed with a shetland pony, she is bay pinto mare. We estimate Pearl was born in the year 2007.

Pearl is so strong with her nose, we have seen her grab (with her teeth!) a 50lb bag of feed, fling it up in the air, catch it on her nose and walk away with it. Pearl LOVES to eat and she is incredibly gentle with the kids and adults who love to brush and walk her. In one of those “what a small world” stories, we found out that Pearl was born just down the street, at our neighbor’s property!

Princess Buttercup arrived at our barn on February 16, 2020. She came from a family in Geneva, FL. Princess Buttercup is a registered miniature horse, a Chocolate Palomino mare. When we body-clipped Princess, we discovered she has a hidden silver dapple gene! Princess Buttercup was born September 14, 2004.

Princess Buttercup is our smallest horse, She loves taking walks and she is always friendly with the horses and people around her.

Paisley

2015 Black Pinto Miniature Mare

Paisley arrived at our barn February 19, 2021. She is a registered Shetland black pinto mare mini. She was born on March 8, 2015.

Paisley is our third miniature horse, and all 3 mini mares get along splendidly. After weeks of walking Paisley with an unoccupied saddle, she walked a kid on her back after 8 weeks here with us and she did great.

Zanina

2009 Dutch Warmblood Mare

Zanina has 2 stories of being part of our family! She was the first (ever) horse to arrive to our barn in January 2018. We had the privilege to be her boarding barn from Jan 2018 - Jan 2019. We fell IN LOVE with her.

Zanina is owned by an incredible professional horse trainer in Southwest Ranches, FL named Lorena Kaelber, owner of LK Equestrians. In May 2021, Lorena generously allowed Zanina to come back to Cheyne Ranch and be part of our education and therapy programs. We are over the moon to have her here! Zanina is a gentle giant, she loves people, especially children. She is one of those intuitive horses who will approach a person who needs her presence, and she will just stand near them, offering her large, protective and loving presence.

Zanina is BIG! She weighs about 1,500 pounds, and she stands 17 hh. Her birthday is March 3, 2009 and her breed is a registered Dutch Warmblood. Before coming to Cheyne Ranch, Zanina had an impressive show record as show jumper.
